A Bordeaux Bespoke Tour Experience
Discovering the wines of Bordeaux on a bike: a bespoke tour
We often get requests for bespoke cycling tours and some of our customers were looking for "Wine exploring in Bordeaux" as well as a gastronomic food experience. to treat themselves on a much-deserved vacation.
Company founder Mike is a keen foodie and can talk about wine in his sleep, so he was most certainly up for the challenge of putting together a tailored bike tour for this group of wine enthusiasts!
He researched suitable venues for wine workshops, delved into the Michelin guide to locate recommended restaurants and finally worked out a route which encompassed the best of Bordeaux. He chose delightful hotels which would suit the group's budget and requirements, booked all the visits and all our group had to do was book their travel and turn up at the right place to start the tour!
Just like all our tours, the bikes were fitted and tested on the first evening, ready to set off the next morning.
How does a bespoke cycle tour work?
You tell us what distances you would like to ride, types of places you want to visit and we look to make that happen.
This group of gentlemen were looking for longer days in the saddle than most of our tours, plus wine tastings and dining in Michelin star restaurants. What did they get... the very best of Bordeaux!
Since 2002 we have been helping our riders get to know the real France, from famous destinations such as the Loire or the Luberon to the Canal du Midi and Carcassonne.
When you choose a private cycling tour, we can build your rides around your requirements (including wine tastings and Michelin-star restaurants!)
Our bilingual guides will help you navigate not only the cycle tracks and the quietest roads, but also book hotels and food to suit your style, whether that's relaxed rustic French bistros, or France's most indulgent fine dining restaurants.
A bespoke Bordeaux cycle tour
Mike arranged wine tasting workshops with an oenologist, including a wine blending class where each participant created their own wine and took home a small bottle labelled with their name.
Delving into the science behind the wine was a fascinating journey, guided by a passionate expert, we would highly recommend this experience if you are partial to a wee drop of vino and would like to learn more about how flavours develop, what makes French terroir so important, and how meteorological and geographical factors affect what you pour from your bottle.

And the gastronomic food?
The exquisite Michelin starred restaurant Logis de la Cadène in St Emilion (click here for a peak at the menu - always seasonal and fresh), the gastronomic and also Michelin starred L'Auberge St Jean located 10 minutes outside St Emilion with tables set overlooking the Dordgone river, and many other gastronomic delights awaited the boys that week.
